Using parabolic microphones and real-time audio processing, the raw physical sounds of the game—the explosive sprints, the aerodynamic spin of the disc, and the visceral dynamics of teamwork—are amplified and woven into a fluid, living score.
Crucially, this live soundscape is anchored by a narrative thread connecting the sport's self-officiating ethics to the critique of technocracy in 1960s American society. The performance explores how ultimate frisbee emerged as a "micro-utopia"—an embodied practice that physically manifested countercultural ideals.
Framing this countercultural legacy as a mirror for contemporary society, Ultimate turns the playing field into a space for profound reflection. It confronts participants with an urgent question: what are the micro-utopias of today? Through this conceptual lens, it asks which modern, embodied practices hold the potential to reshape social dynamics and redistribute power. Ultimately, the performance transcends mere athletic competition, elevating physical movement into a shared, collective creative practice.
